INTRODUCTION
WaterAid is an international non-governmental organization established in 1981 with focus exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation in developing countries. We believe that water and sanitation are human rights. These essential services are vital to health, education and livelihoods; and form the first essential step in overcoming poverty.
WaterAid started its operation in Nigeria in 1995. Since then, it has successfully executed several intervention programs as outlined by its aims and has made impact in the lives of the very poor. WaterAid’s new country programme strategy (2023-2028) seeks to achieve 2 broad aims in focused geographic areas of Bauchi and Lagos State; with comparator states of Oyo and Kano States; and project states of Enugu, Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States and federal capital territory.
